Celebrating
The 110th anniversary of the Hadley choir was marked by the publication of A Century of Song (Plus Ten), a history of the choir written by choir member Nick Law.
The 68-page book chronicles the life and times of the choir, early days, successes at Welsh eisteddfodau and other prestigious musical festivals and its survival, never being disbanded during its entire history.
The Hadley and District Orpheus Male Voice Choir is the oldest surviving musical group in Shropshire and has been led over the years by just six musical directors, including the legendary Raymond Lewis.
Its part in the musical life of the county of Shropshire is recorded in this new publication which is obtainable at just £8 (post free) from Terry Gilder, Franley Cottage, Connors Lane, Edgmond, Shropshire, TF10 8JU (Cheques payable to Hadley Orpheus MVC).
